Some trips are life changing....Satya Jyoti farms
COVID not only brought with it ill health, death and a whole lot of fear, it made people break from within. People were confined to indoors and with all family together 24/7. Though this started as an opportunity for good family time, what we all ended up with is a feeling of stress and overwork. Just when my mind body was crashing down, given these circumstances, the trip to Satya Jyoti farms rescued and revived me a great deal.
I have been a traveller at heart, and to places less visited and known by the world. Not just that, i love places that gives seclusion, solitude, lot of rustic nature rather than luxury. Our two days trip to the farm has been just that. In the middle of nothingness, I found so much. That quaint homely cottage surrounded by tress and bushes, the idyllic setting for bonfire, the quintessential operational kitchen with varieties of pickles and all basic utilities and the kutcha road that takes you to anyplace around the farm...all makes up for what my wanderer heart was yearning for.
The cottage was build by Jyoti for herself to stay during her weekend visits to the farm. Later her retired father and mother lived there for over a year. We immediately felt like a home as we entered the cottage. It had the feel of someone residing not till a long ago. The low ceiling, the cold and dark ambience, the old world furniture, that box of basic homeopathy medicines, the candle stands, the table lamps...everything felt special yet to rooted. The curtains were cut out of cotton saris, with designs that my mom wear. The large veranda with the hammock and cane chairs reminded me of my grandma's home. Everything felt so surreal yet so real. The feeling and experience of staying in the cottage cannot to explained in words, no matter how much I try.
The other thing that will forever remain ingrained in my memory is meeting Jyoti. So unpretentious, real, and yet full of experiences and wisdom. Connected with her instantly. Somewhere deep within, I felt like being her when at her age. Similar thought imbibed through upbringing, similar concerns about the world around as well as the one within, a fun loving foodie, and a great company to have meaningful conversations that can run up to hours. This one meeting helped me come out of the stresses I was going through. Can't thank Jyoti enough!!
Everything else in the farm was a reflection of Jyoti and her unpretentious self. I have left a part of my existence there...hope someday soon I can go back to get more enriched.
Some images that will keep the experience alive....and many images that were left untaken as we got too engrossed in the experiences.
